Humanoid robot to catwalk at Tokyo Fashion Week

It is something like a straight out of Ripley's Believe it or not. The Institute of Industrial Technology Agency has developed a robot which is the closest to human behaviour and will the saunter on the catwalk at the Tokyo Fashion Week.

Humanoid Research Group of the Intelligent System Research Division headed by Chief Research Group Mr Kazita Syuuzi and the Chairman of Institute of Industrial Technology Agency, Mr Hiroyuki Yoshikawa have developed a humanoid robot.

This humanoid robot which closely resembles the human form in gait and behavior as well as in appearance can interact with humans using speech recognition.

The humanoid robot code-named, HRP-4C has a height of 158cm, weight 43kg (including battery) and achieves the walk and behaviour which is very close to that of a female and also has a voice recognition device to respond to human commands.

HRP-4C, AIST was conceptualized in 2006 and took nearly three years. The main purpose behind developing the humanoid robot was for application in the entertainment industry and will be made available for fashion shows.
