Anupama Dayal creates Poetic atmosphere at LFW Fall/Winter

The beauty of Alfred Tennyson's poem, The Lotus Eater was translated into a lyrical collection for Fall/Winter 2009 by Anupama Dayal at Lakme Fashion Week. The look had that edgy touch of Oriental splendour with hints of mystery aimed at a woman who Anupama described as a Glamazon.

So there was elegance combined with sexy silhouettes along with a hint of inspirations in embellishments that reflected the beauty of Faberge eggs, Persian textiles and the atmosphere of winter gardens in Delhi.

The fabrics were rich as brocades from Banares, jacquards, chiffon, georgettes, Lurex, satin and Dupion silks floated down the catwalk in stunning shades of topaz, amber, garnet, ruby, sapphire, turquoise, emerald, lapis lazuli and alexandrite. Creating a stylish practical line, Anupama had a mélange of tunics, skirts, harem pants, elegant gowns, day and cocktail dresses and some stunning saris.

Eye catchers were the burnished Banares jacket with jacquard georgette 'rogan' sleeves in wine, russet fairaisle printed flared dress with collar and cuff in cut 'dana' detail, an interesting mock patchwork printed dress, a sari trouser with lotus print and the cowled dress in crepe. The saris had the 'Anupama' touch as prints and gotta borders blended together and were often teamed with long sleeved blouses with shirt collars.

It was a collection that blended the East and West to make perfect fashion music for Fall/Winter 2009 from the design boards of Anupama Dayal.
