Vibram, has partnered with Cabela's, the World's Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, to design a new sole for Cabela's top-selling hunting boots. The new proprietary Cabela's Outfitter Pro sole design features ideal lug depths and correct angles on all lugs for superior traction and the ability to handle any type of terrain, from mud to shale to limestone and more. The soles are designed by Quabaug Corporation, the exclusive North American manufacturing licensee for Vibram.
“We put our decades of footwear experience to work and designed a sole with the Cabela's team that would significantly upgrade the boot's performance,” noted Chris Favreau, Vice President of Technical Development at Quabaug. “It's a pleasure to work with a respected company like Cabela's that shares our commitment to quality and innovation.”
Vibram will support sales of the re-designed Cabela's hunting boot by providing three-inch Vibram logos for slatwalls. Each store will receive 40 logos, to be mounted on slatwalls at every shoe, boot and sandal that has a Vibram sole.
“Cabela's is providing Vibram with unprecedented wall space to underscore Cabela's choice of Vibram as an added value for their footwear,” added Favreau.
“We wanted to offer a new generation of our Outfitter boot by upgrading its features and adding a high performance outsole,” said Phil Francone, Cabela's Product Manager. “So we partnered with Vibram and, after a year of research, development and field-testing, we designed a sole to handle the most demanding terrains and conditions. During our extensive wear-testing, the new boot design and the Vibram soles performed outstandingly.”
“We field-tested the new Cabela's Outfitter Pro boots on a seven-day trip into the wilderness of Newfoundland,” said Tony Kennedy, a 25-year Canadian licensed guide. “On that trip, we encountered rocks, rivers, swamps, snow, ice, mud, downed trees, and endless thickets of juniper. The re-designed Outfitter boot with the Vibram sole got us through some extreme conditions with no problem.”
