Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) participated in 'Education Fair' organized at Chennai on 12th & 13th May 2009 at stall number 101 at Hotel Ambassador Pallava, Chennai.

'Education Fair' witnessed reputed Universities/ Institutes from various countries to showcase their courses to the most potential student population of India.

According to Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI, "It was the most promising platform for introducing FDDI programmes to an eager and growing market of large potential pool of students of Southern India."

"The fair also guided people who were looking for a specific or an additional course in Retail, Fashion, Leather, Footwear and Leather Goods & Accessories Design sector, as well as for individuals wishing to improve their skills, or to reorient or develop their career in these areas," added Mr. Lakhara.

FDDI offers professional PG & UG programmes in niche area of retail, footwear and leather goods and accessories design to meet the demand of the industry. It puts best of efforts by updating itself with change in global requirement in terms of curriculum, faculty, learning methodology, infrastructure, labs, machines and training aids to remain internationally competitive and comparable.

The growth potential in Retail, Leather Goods & Footwear is tremendous. A huge number of trained professionals are required in Retail, Leather, Footwear and allied industry. It is an initiative from Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India to cater the growing demand of trained professionals in these specialized fields.

Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI stated, "The fair has been very strategically timed after all the major Board & Degree exams are over."

Mr. Shukla further said that "Such fairs are the most cost effective medium to reach the target segment covering students seeking career option in the niche area of retail, footwear and leather goods and accessories design."

The economic slowdown might have affected B School placements across India, but FDDI again fulfilled its promise to the students to provide the best career options.
