Spotlight on Young Hong Kong Fashion Designers in Taiwan

Hin Lee Hin Lee, who started his career as an apprentice for top Hong Kong fashion designers Walter Ma and Pacino Wan,took top honours in the wool category of the 2001 Hong Kong Young Fashion Designer's Contest. The HKTDC invited Mr Lee to join four other talented designers and Canto-pop star Eric Kot at a fashion show in Japan in 2006. The event was publically acclaimed and earned him a place among Hong Kong's most popular fashion designers. Today, his designs are available in London, Paris and Tokyo.
Mandy Cheng A UK fashion-design graduate, Mandy Cheng was one of the finalists in the knitwear category of the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designer's Contest in 2002.The following year her “Dawn” collection was among the “Top Ten Overall Best Collections” in the competition. International fashion designer Johanna Ho recruited Ms Cheng to work for her name brand, “Johanna Ho,”which attracted investment from a leading Japanese fashion syndicate and became the first Hong Kong brand to enter the Japanese fashion market. Ms Cheng has also worked with other global companies, including ZARA, MANGO, DEBEHNAMS, WEEKEND, K2 and I-maroon.
Spy Henry Lau Henry Lau opened SPY, his first studio, soon after graduating from Hong Kong Polytechnic with a degree in fashion design. From a single store, the operation expanded to four locations in Hong Kong and more than 20 outlets in Australia,the Chinese mainland, Japan, the Middle East, Singapore, Taiwan and the UK. Mr Lau has cooperated with a number of top brands, including Cotton USA, DeBeers, LeSportsac, Motorola, Nokia and Tiffany & Co. He recently revamped Chicks, one of Hong Kong's traditional brands. He has also been involved in designing stage costumes for such Canto-pop stars as Leslie Cheung, Hacken Lee and Anita Mui.
