munichfabricstart – pre collections has “gone even one better”. Posting a 5% increase in attendance to 14,910 visitors it even succeeded in breaking the record event in September 2008. This means the fair has given the sector that urgently needed adrenaline rush for the new fashion season A/W 2010/2011 – one that was so crucial after the severe losses suffered in the first half year.

The German textile trade fair proves its charisma. It has become an indispensable information pool for creative heads and buyers from retail and industry to kick off the season, not least because it has continued to invest even in these troubled times.

765 international exhibitors and 14,910 visitors praised its extensive, market-driven service portfolio, its perfected Corporate Design and the facilities offered at the fair, its friendliness and feel-good atmosphere. The most recent investment has substantially contributed to this success. Everything proved a perfect fit: the re-designed foyer all in black, the Trend Areas and themes in the exhibition halls (which were staged even more specifically in line with the products displayed by exhibitors in these halls), exhibition
catalogue artwork, the new areas organicselection by munichfabricstart, the showrooms for Full-Packaging suppliers and the high-calibre technical talks.

The impressive fringe programme with fashion show and a breathtaking munichfabricnight attended by over 1,000 guests entertained by top-class artistry “added fuel” to the high spirits. At 32% the share of foreign trade visitors rose slightly by 2%. These visitors came from German-speaking countries, Italy and Eastern Europe. Moreover, Munich was once again the meeting point for the complete “guild” of German designers as well as for renowned retail and industry buyers ranging from Esprit and the C&A buying office to Joop! and Hugo Boss.

Summary of the new service areas: Perfect start
- organicselection by munichfabricstart: Virtually “hitting a bull's eye” was the new area organicselection by munichfabricstart – for visitors and for exhibitors alike. The experts attending such as Mechthild Naschke, Head of the Textile Department at IMO in Zurich, explicitly thanked the organisers, munichfabricstart exhibitions GmbH, for this sourcing pool for organic and sustainable woven and knitted fabrics. “We had an incredible response,” she said and added that the interest taken in the organicicons, the categories developed in-house by the trade fair to ease orientation through the maze of certificates, had also been enormous. This means that the trade fair has also achieved its aim of keeping the entrance barrier low for new entrants among both visitors and exhibitors. “We are very pleased. The interplay with the Forum worked extremely well and strengthened us,” said Marita Bartelet of the Dutch Ecological Textiles Agency, which represents such ecological collections as Raubia Naturalia, Avanti and Lichtschatz and showcased its fabrics at the Forum.
