Van Heusen India Mens Week 2009 kicked off, Friday, September 11, 2009 at The Grand in New Delhi. Inaugurated by B K Sinha, Development Commissioner Handloom and Rajiv Tukru, Director General, NIFT, VHIMW is India's first major fashion week just for men.

The inaugural show on day 1 was the collection by Ravi Bajaj, followed by veterans like Manoviraj Khosla and Rohit Bal.

Realizing the growing potential of Men's Fashion in India, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) in partnership with Van Heusen, India's leading lifestyle brand decided to change the dynamics of the Indian fashion landscape, with the first seriously exclusive fashion week JUST for men. The 'Van Heusen India Mens Week' positions India as the 4th Fashion Capital of the World to host an independent Men's Week.

According to Sunil Sethi, President FDCI, “There is a pressing need for an independent forum for men's fashion and we are confident that VHIMW will ideally meet this requirement. It promises to be an excellent forum to showcase talent and creativity in men's fashion for established and upcoming designers. Our mission is to take Indian men's fashion to the world and the VHIMW showcase is a fulfillment of that aspiration.”

'Van Heusen India Mens Week' will be held in New Delhi from September 11 – 13, 2009 at The Grand and will feature 15 shows and over 20 exhibitors. It promises to be a world class event showcasing the very best of Indian talent. Designers will be invited to cover the widest range of men's fashion – menswear and accessories, under one roof, affording buyers and consumers the widest possible selection of fashion for men.
