Cone comments on the lineup this year, "Four leading designers from Seattle and Vancouver BC, designers from all over the US, a record 5 international labels from places like Sweden, France, Pakistan... all this makes Portland Fashion Week a regional, national and international showcase of a kind not seen anywhere outside New York and LA fashion week in the US.Portland should be proud that it can, in all earnestness, make that statement."

"This year the serious runway fashion will take place in the spectacular industrial contrast of the Vigor Industrial Shipyard, which is a stalwart example of economic vibrancy and staying power in Portland, and also the biggest bicycle-riding working campus in Portland. When the runway lights go down, you will be yearning for the swankiest PFW after-parties in downtown Portland and the Pearl District" says Chowdhury with a grin, "In this fashion week, we are all about bringing attention to the success stories and celebrating everything uplifting and forward-looking in our city, on the runway and off".

The world's first comprehensively Green Production of a Fashion Week Continues Starting in 2007, Portland Fashion Week took on a defining character of the city it calls home, becoming not only the fashion week with the most green designers on the runway, but the first fashion week to incorporate a comprehensive effort to minimize the environmental impact of the overall production. From eco-friendly hair styling products, products using recycled packaging, a bamboo runway, low-consumption LED event lighting, a green hotel partner, bio-diesel shuttles, and more, PFW strives to set an example for the fashion week world, much as Portland does for the world in general.

That tradition continues this year, with eco-friendly products backstage, beautiful bamboo flooring runway which will be put back into use as flooring after service in PFW, a VIP lounge furnished entirely by eco-friendly furniture providers, a full schedule of sustainable programs on closing night as well as other eco-fashion designers spread across the week, low-voltage LED plaza and up-lighting, programs printed on recycled paper, and more. Portland Fashion Week encourages all fashion weeks to authentically adopt similar practices to these, until green becomes the norm instead of a genre!!
