Topical trends at Innovating Sustainable Fashion

The fashion show Innovating Sustainable Fashion takes place in a few days(2 December). The show features sustainable designs created by young innovative fashion designers from Danish design schools.

The show will take place immediately before the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December where leaders from around the world will negotiate the health of our planet and attempt to meet the challenges of the future. Fashion reflects topical trends in society which makes Innovating Sustainable Fashion an eminent showcase for the debate of the moment.

"We are currently experiencing increased global warming and overpopulation - among other threats. Consequently, we need to think more long-term and, yes, more about sustainability. Both fashion and the art scene can play an important role in showing sustainability as cool, funny and/or exciting. I think that delving down into this topic can be an eye-opener for many of the students - also in terms of exploring the power of fashion if it is done right." Christian Stadil, owner of Hummel and judge at the fashion show.

Cover and Henrik Bülow support the project
The Danish fashion magazine Cover has chosen to support the show by signing up as media partner and the students' concepts have been photographed by Danish fashion photographer Henrik Bülow. Music is provided by DJ Von Baden during the show and the reception afterwards.

The project began at the Center for Responsible Design which spotted an obvious opportunity to establish a design contest aligned to the spirit of the times. The show is organised in partnership with Copenhagen Fashion Fairs.
