For the first two days of Interstoff Asia Essential, running 17 – 19 March 2010, a succession of specially made fashion designs will be showcased at the upcoming spring fair. Design students from Caritas Bianchi College of Careers (CBCC) and members of the Knitwear Innovation and Design Society (KIDS) will interpret S/S 2011 trends.

“This year's fashion events are a unique twist to inspire designers and buyers that will attend our fair,” said Ms Wendy Wen, Trade Fair Director for Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. In total, 20 students from CBCC have partnered up with 20 exhibitors to create four pieces of ladieswear each, which will be paraded during the fashion walk. The events are scheduled for 17 March at 12:00 noon and 18:00 plus 18 March at 15:00.

"The students' collections will fuse cross cultural inspirations of east meets west with hints of masculinity in their ladieswear designs,” said Mr Ngan Man Leung, Lecturer, Faculty of Design, Caritas Bianchi College of Careers. For more than 39 years, CBCC has provided study programmes for disciplines in business, design and hospitality management.

Mr Ngan also noted the fashion communities growing trend towards sustainability. “Eco-textiles are very important nowadays so we hope to give designer's some direct correlation between the exhibitor's fabrics and trend for 2011. This is a tremendous opportunity for the students to showcase their talent plus generate potential business leads from the Chinese market sector.”

Equally as important is the Knitwear Innovation and Design Society (KIDS) showcase, promoting new technology in the market. KIDS is a non-profit resource centre helping to foster the sustainable growth of the knitwear industry in Hong Kong.

Special fashion walks are scheduled for 17 March 2010 at 18:00 and 18 March at 12:00 noon.
