One more jewel has been studded in the crown of Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI).

The premier leather products, design and retail institution in the world has collaborated with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and converted its UG Diploma programmes into B. Sc. Degree and its PG Diploma programmes into M. Sc. Degree from the academic session 2010.

“With the gradual increase in the branches of FDDI and in view of the increase in student's strength it became imperative to provide Degree to the students to make the programmes of FDDI at par with other Universities.”
-Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University was established by an Act of Parliament in 1985 to achieve the twin objectives of widening access for all sections of society and providing continual professional development and training to all sectors of the economy.

IGNOU serves the educational aspirations of over 2.6 million students in India and 36 other countries through the twenty-one Schools of Studies and a network of 61 regional centres, around 3000 learner support centres and around 60 overseas centres.

Citing about the relevance & requirement of this collaboration with IGNOU, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director FDDI said “With the gradual increase in the branches of FDDI and in view of the increase in student's strength it became imperative to provide Degree to the students to make the programmes of FDDI at par with other Universities.”

“With this new development, students would be able to apply for higher study and also apply for Central / State Govt. jobs”, added Mr. Lakhara.

Now, FDDI will be offering Degree alongwith the Diploma in the niche area of Footwear Design, Leather Goods & Accessories Designing & Retail Management for which students of all the stream are eligible to apply.

The admission procedure and selection criteria will remain the same. This year, the entrance tests to admit students in the different programmes of the Institute are scheduled on 12th/ 13th /14th June 2010.
