For the first time at Dubai Fashion Week, women from different walks of life joined models in a bid to raise awareness for arthritis. Hosted by the Emirates Arthritis Foundation in association with British label “Handwritten”, the show featured creations by designers Tanya Sarne, Megan Park and Meeta Mulchandani.

The 90s inspired collection from Tanya Sarne of “Handwritten”, featured effortlessly chic dresses in the form of soft flowing outfits in machine-washable organic material extracted from the barks of trees. The knee-length and maxi dresses in muted colours were lightly embroidered to provide a wardrobe for the woman who wishes to add a pinch of glamour to her daily routine.

Australian designer Megan Park, renowned for her artistic flare displayed a modern and edgy collection of sleek cuts decorated with crystals and other embellishments. Practical outfits in pastel colours were followed by glamorous club-wear dresses in dark coloured silk and tulle. The 8 outfits presented carried structured cuts, with frills and tiers dominating the creation.

Meeta Mulchandani's Spring/Summer line was inspired by the larger than life Indian wedding, renowned for its over the top extravagance and rejoicing. With sensual designs manifesting themselves in lehenga cholis and saris, the collection displayed traditional Indian wear alongside glamorous Western outfits. Ankle-length dresses with empire waists came in a range of soft yellow, pastel green and pale gold. The opulence of the weddings shone through as metallic bustiers were paired with tulle skirts and dupattas in colours ranging from ivory and peach to blue and gold. The collection also presented the traditional pink bridal lehenga exquisitely embroidered with silver thread.

With 16 prominent women from Dubai society donning the glamorous creations, the show sent out a strong message of encouragement and support to those battling arthritis.
