  • Burberry has partnered with Vestiaire Collective to allow customers in the UK and US to trade in pre-loved Burberry women's outerwear and handbags for Burberry gift cards.
  • Vestiaire Collective authenticates the items, making them available globally.
  • Additionally, Burberry has donated heritage trench coats to support the UK-based charity Smart Works.

Burberry has announced that it is partnering with leading global resale platform Vestiaire Collective, to offer customers a new way to trade in their pre-loved Burberry pieces, so they can be enjoyed for longer.

Customers in the UK and US can trade in their pre-loved Burberry women’s outerwear and handbags on the Burberry x Vestiaire Collective platform, in exchange for a Burberry gift card. Vestiaire Collective will then offer customers a price for their pre-loved item. Once the price has been accepted by the customer, the item will need to be shipped to Vestiaire Collective, where a rigorous authentication and quality control process will take place. The customer will then receive a Burberry gift card.

All pre-loved Burberry pieces will be available to purchase globally, giving customers around the world access to more items through Vestiaire Collective.

As part of the partnership, Burberry has also donated a selection of women’s heritage trench coats to the platform. The sale price of these items will be donated to the UK-based charity Smart Works, which provides high-quality interview clothes and coaching to unemployed women in need. Burberry has supported Smart Works since 2013, donating products as part of the charity’s mission to help women achieve their potential as they look to enter the workforce.

For more than 165 years, Burberry has carefully crafted luxury clothing, bags and accessories that are made to last. This new partnership is part of the ReBurberry programme, which aims to bring to life circular initiatives for customers, supporting Burberry’s ambition to keep products and materials in use for longer – a value shared and embodied by Vestiaire Collective.

Through its Resale as a service programme, Vestiaire Collective accompanies luxury brands as they embrace circularity, and strives to continuously promote a more responsible fashion industry. With this partnership, Vestiaire Collective is pursuing its mission to transform the luxury industry for a better and more circular future.

“We are very excited to team up with Vestiaire Collective to provide another way for our customers to give new life to their Burberry pieces. In building on our existing circular initiatives, including our aftercare services through our ReBurberry programme, we hope that these pieces can continue to be enjoyed for generations to come,” said Giorgio Belloli, Burberry’s chief digital, customer and innovation officer.
