Washim Mia, Staff Correspondent (RMG Times)  A Universal Health Coverage plan Project has been launched jointly by Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS) and Abloom Design Limited today, 20^th February 2018, at Padma Lounge, Dhaka Club, Dhaka to ensure comprehensive health coverage for more than 800 ready-made garments workers of Abloom Design Limited, a 100% export oriented garments factory in Bangladesh.

This four years’ project is going to be implemented by the financial support from Weave our Future (WoF) foundation, a part of Auchan-a giant French retailer. Research, Training and Management International, known as RTM, will monitor the progress of this project.

Mr. M A Samad, Chief Executive Officer of National Healthcare Network (NHN) welcomed all the distinguished guests and gave the synopsis of the project through a PowerPoint presentation.

The objective of this project is to provide health care services to the RMG workers working in Abloom Design Ltd. including basic, secondary and tertiary level through the clinics and hospitals of BADAS and make them aware of how to get rid of the clutch of the deadly diseases providing different awareness trainings advices.  

Later on, both parties signed on a contract or Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a record of this mutual agreement. Mr. Sayef Uddin, Secretary General-BADAS and Mr. Mohsin Rabbani, Managing Director- Abloom Design Ltd. signed the contract on behalf of the respective parties.

Among others in the contract signing, presented by Mr. Farook Azam Khan from BDEMR, Prof. A K Azad, President of BADAS, Mr. Naimul Hassan Naim, Director of Abloom Design Ltd., Ms. Amandine Furst, Project Manager- Weave our Future(WoF), Syed Jaglul Pasha, Executive Director of RTM International, Mr. Ghaus Mohammad, Director of New Asia Group were also present.

While addressing the ceremony, representatives from the participating organizations expressed their commitment and willingness to work together in improving the health and wellbeing of the garment workers.

The event reaches its  finishing line with the presentation of crest to the honorable guests.
