Indus-League Clothing Limited, which retails nine apparel brands, had great end of season sale and is optimistic about the upcoming festive season.

In an exclusive chat with Fibre2fashion, Ms. Shibani Mishra, Chief - Marketing, Indus-League Clothing Limited, spoke about the apparel categories and segments that are presently doing well in the market. She reveals, “The womenswear segment is doing much better than the menswear, and category-wise women’s fashion range is performing better than the rest.”

Talking about the sales growth in men’s apparels, she mentions, “In men, the fashion wear category is doing much better than the formal apparel section. Brands like Daniel Hechter and Indigo Nation have been doing much better than the purely formal brands like Urbana and John Miller.”

When questioned about the changes that are being observed in people’s buying habits, she states, “There was a trend when people used to purchase more of formal apparels in bulk during the end-of-the-season sales (EOSS). But, recently we have observed that the casual wear, primarily the denims, tops and t-shirts are being favoured more than the formal apparels by the people.”

Ms. Mishra also informed about the strategies that the company is planning to implement in order to improve its sales. “To keep up with the current trend of public’s increasing interest in buying casual wear, we are trying to offer more value addition without changing the price factor. We are also manufacturing more of fashion garments by incorporating new innovations in terms of styling, designing and fabrics.”

“Brands like Urbana, which used to be a purely formal wear brand earlier, are now coming up with a range of cotton-lycra shirts, which fall more into the segment of comfort wear. Additionally, we are introducing a new and innovative range of collection based on different themes in Indigo Nation, which we have already started promoting through various campaigns,” she adds.

Apprising about the company’s expansion plans in the near future, she says, “We do have expansion plans for Manchester United. We will be opening a couple of new stores in Chennai and may be one in Delhi. We are also looking to open one Headquarters store in Bangalore very soon. There are a few more brands that are in the pipeline for our exclusive stores. Besides, we will have our collections on display at various upcoming Pantaloons and Central stores.”
