David Jones Limited (DJS) announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with German powerhouse brand, HUGO BOSS, giving it Australian department store exclusive, distribution rights to all HUGO BOSS brands across all categories.

As from February 2014 David Jones will be the only Australian department store receiving new season HUGO BOSS stock which will be carried nationally across all David Jones stores. HUGO BOSS is a major player in the global fashion market generating sales of 2.3 billion Euros per annum. David Jones is expected to grow its HUGO BOSS sales significantly under the new arrangement.

David Jones CEO & Managing Director Mr Paul Zahra said, “Securing HUGO BOSS on a department store exclusive basis is a real coup for David Jones. We expect this brand to be amongst our top suppliers now that it has converted to a department store exclusive arrangement.”

The deal announced will position David Jones as the leading national destination for corporate wear and exclusive leisurewear in the Australian market having already signed up brands such as Armani Collezioni, Ermenegildo Zegna, Canali, Max Mara, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Hardy Amies and Paul Smith on a department store exclusive basis.

The HUGO BOSS lines epitomise a contemporary, classic and effortless approach to dressing. The collections are renowned for modern, refined business and eveningwear along with sophisticated casual looks and premium sportswear.

Following the appointment of internationally recognised designer Jason Wu as the Creative Director for HUGO BOSS’ Womenswear there is much anticipation for the new season collections. Mr Zahra said, “HUGO BOSS is one of the strongest performing fashion brands in our portfolio and we are delighted with their decision to become department store exclusive to David Jones.

“Not only is this deal testament to the appeal and success of David Jones’ strategy to be the destination for the best national and international brands, but due to the size and significance of this business, it places both David Jones and HUGO BOSS in an excellent position for continued success in the Australian market,” Mr Zahra said.
