Swedish, Danish firms urged to invest more in Bangladesh

President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) Osama Taseer recently urged Danish and Swedish entrepreneurs to invest more in Bangladesh in the readymade garments, ship building, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, leather and footwear, information and communication technology, light engineering, electrical and electronics and Infrastructure sectors.

He said this when Swedish ambassador to Bangladesh Charlotta Schlyter and Danish ambassador to Bangladesh Winnie Estrup Petersen met him on March 5.

Bangladesh now exports readymade garments, frozen food, agricultural products, jute goods, chemical and toiletry products, light engineering products, leather goods, bicycles, ceramic products, home textile & handicrafts to Sweden and Denmark.

Schlyter called for reducing the trade gap between Bangladesh with Sweden. Petersen said her embassy will assist Bangladesh in improving the ease of doing business index to attract investment. (DS)
