Amann named in top 50 sustainability & climate leaders

Amann Group, a Germany-based leading producer of high-quality sewing and embroidery threads, has announced that the group entered into United Nations Global Compact in the beginning of 2019. The United Nations (UN) nominated 50 worldwide leaders in sustainability and climate protection and Amann was presented on behalf of the textile industry.

“Sewing thread is everywhere. It is used across a majority of industries and can be found in all kinds of products. However, each year approximately 92 million tons of textile waste is generated around the globe, of which only a small percentage is effectively recycled with the rest ending up burned or in landfills,” Amann Group said in a press release. “Amann Group is aware of the need for greater sustainability in the textile industry and pioneering ways to effect positive change across the industry.”

The UN has produced a short film for each of the 50 selected companies worldwide, illustrating the particular commitment of the respective company to sustainability and climate protection.
