Dollar General plans to expand to 46 states in 2020

Dollar General is currently under construction on new stores in Washington and Wyoming. These stores are expected to expand the company’s presence to 46 states throughout the country in 2020. Stores are currently under construction in Centralia, Washington (Lewis County); Cathlamet, Washington (Wahkiakum County), and Pine Bluffs, Wyoming (Laramie County).
Dollar General provides value and convenience on products from some of America’s most-trusted brands and its own private brand merchandise in a carefully-curated merchandise offering of health and beauty products, home cleaning supplies, housewares, stationery, seasonal items, refrigerated, and frozen foods, the company said in a press release.
With nearly 16,000 retail locations and approximately 140,000 employees, Dollar General invests in its employees as a competitive advantage to help develop and grow their careers. Each store is expected to employ approximately six to 10 employees, depending on the individual needs of the store. As part of its mission of serving others, Dollar General is deeply involved in the communities it serves and is an ardent supporter of literacy and education through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, which awards grants each year to non-profit organisations, schools and libraries within a 20-mile radius of a Dollar General store or distribution centre to support adult, family, summer, and youth literacy programmes. Since its inception in 1993, the DGLF has awarded more than $172 million in grants to non-profit organisations, helping more than 11 million individuals take their first steps toward literacy or continued education.
