Label Summit India 2007, which took place this month in New Delhi was a great success with 492 delegates attending the high-level conference to learn about the key factors stimulating growth in the Indian label industry both in the short and the long term.

With the current retail market in India worth $US300 billion and the demand for consumer products and luxury goods increasing by 15% every year, the Summit provided the ideal gathering for label industry professionals from India and beyond to gain in-depth insights into these developments.

A panel of senior representatives from brand owner organizations such as GlaxoSmithKline, Pepsico and Reckitt Benckiser, spoke about what they are looking for in their label supplier; their future requirements; and the upcoming commercial opportunities being created in this huge consumer market.

Other key themes addressed on the conference program included: anti-counterfeiting technology; managing a label business to improve margins and profitability; the Indian converter as a global player; and utilizing inks for performance and value, to name a few.

Roger Pellow, Labels Group Managing Director, said: "India is becoming increasingly important to the global economy with a rapidly growing consumer market opening up to foreign trade and investment.”

“The Summit was timed at a crucial turning point in the retail boom in the country and was very well attended by major Indian label printers. We were delighted to provide a forum to bring key experts together to share their views and predictions for the future of the label industry. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank our friends, colleagues and association partners in the Indian label industry. We are looking forward to returning to India in the near future to continue to help the label industry expand its international outlook."
