The next edition of the 55th Dornbirn Man-Made Fibers Congress (Dornbirn-MFC) will be held from September 20-22, 2016 in Austria.

One of this year`s highlights will be Groz Beckert`s presentation of a longitudinally cut car of a major European car brand which demonstrates the various aspects of fibres and fibre usage.

“The vehicle was cut at the crucial parts so that the application fields of fibres are disclosed and visible and can be marveled at its original size within the exhibition area,” a press release from the organisers informed.

There will be around 100 expert lectures, which will focus on; fibres and textiles in automotive; fibres for nonwovens; fibre innovations; finishing and functional additives and textiles

Dornbirn-MFC has aligned its guidelines and policies with the Austrian Eco-Label for Green Meetings & Green Events and receives a certification for the same.

Criteria such as CO2 reduction, ecological catering, environmentally-friendly accommodation, as well as management of materials and waste play an essential role and the event will be organised accordingly.

According to the organisers, Dornbirn MFC has favourably evolved as a global brand over the past few years, which is reflected in both the increasing numbers of participants and their international origin.

“This European shaped innovation platform for the fibre industry and the downstream value chain is supposed to function as idea and network generator,” they added.

Sponsors substantially contribute to the success of Dornbirn-MFC and include; the Province of Vorarlberg, the city of Dornbirn, the major sponsor Lenzing AG, CIRFS and IVC.

New sponsors acquired for 2016 include SGL Carbon Group as main sponsor and also Fisipe, Rieter Holding AG, CHT Beitlich GmbH and Groz Beckert KG.

On February 18, at a joint press conference with Texworld/Avantex, the cooperation of Dornbirn-MFC and Avantex was announced.

“Both events show a perfect timely match as Avantex Paris will be held just a week before in Paris and the participants might efficiently follow both events,” the organisers said.

The Dornbirn-MFC website which is a central communication tool will be replaced by a new revamped website and will go live within the next months, with interactivity being a major criterion. (AR)
