HKRITA wins medals at international event in Geneva

The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) has won two gold medals with jury's commendation, one gold medal, four silver medals, and two special awards for its all seven participating entries at the 45th International Exhibition of Inventions - Geneva. The exhibition featured 1,000 new innovations and inventions from 40 countries.

 

The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) has won two gold medals with jury's commendation, one gold medal, four silver medals, and two special awards for its all seven participating entries at the 45th International Exhibition of Inventions - Geneva. The exhibition featured 1,000 new innovations and inventions from 40 countries.#

In all, there were 700 exhibitors in the event, organised by the World Intellectual Property Organisation, the Swiss Government and the City of Geneva, during March 29-April 2, 2017.

The institute's projects on new functional textiles from bio-based and degradable fibres and fine worsted yak yarns and fabrics won a gold medal each with jury's commendation. The former also won a special award by the scientific community of Romania.

Another project on sleeping thermal comfort assessment system was selected for a gold medal while projects on sensing insole for footstrike pattern detection in runners, asymmetric functional fencing shoes, novel treatment for improving leather recovery performance and quick learning automatic spraying system for jeans won silver medals.

Since 2010, HKRITA has participated in this global event for eight consecutive years and received 30 awards, with 13 gold medals. (SV)
