At the upcoming Premiere Vision Leather trade show in September, tanners have displayed products which combine leather with a self-supporting material also known as shape memory.

Marmara Deri, an exhibitor has bonded full or perforated lambskin with a very fine sheet of aluminium foil which was itself attached to fabric using special glue.

Pistolesi, a tannery has also separated lamb leather into two layers and sandwiched a sheet of foil between them.

“The grain side has smooth finish rather like dipped leather while the flesh side is coated with a golden film,” the organisers of Premiere Vision said.

“Their creators are proud of their articles, which are designed for use in footwear or leather goods, for consumers who are looking for playful products,” they added.

Cuirs du Futur will introduce stretch leather for shoes that do not crack when stretched, and offer nearly 20 per cent elasticity.

“Similar performances are achieved by André Hiriar, which claims between 25 and 30 per cent elasticity for its stretch items,” the organisers stated.

According to Andre Hiriar, these new products make it an ideal material for close-fitting garments like leggings, pencil skirts and thigh boots. (AR)
