Developer of spider silk based fibres, Kraig Biocraft Laboratories said it has signed an office lease in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, which is its first overseas office, with plans to expand silk production.

“The setting up of this office is as an essential step in our efforts to obtain final approval for our planned hybrid silkworm research and pilot production operations in Vietnam,” the company added.

“The new office is intended to provide an essential gateway for our long term plans which include establishing pilot production and advanced research in traditional silk producing regions,” COO Jon Rice said.

“From these humble beginnings we hope to build lasting relationships and spur economic growth,” he too added.

Kraig Biocraft is a fully reporting biotechnology company focused on the commercialisation of new textiles and high performance fibres including spider silks.

As a developer of genetically engineered spider silk based fibre technologies, Kraig Biocraft has been able to achieve breakthroughs in the area of spider silk technology. (AR)
