Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has called for forging a new pattern of practical cooperation between China and Uzbekistan, with both sides opening up in a better way. Li made the remarks during his talks with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov in Tashkent on November 1. He said he looks forward to the launch of more direct flights between both the countries.

The Chinese premier is in Tashkent for the 18th meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), according to an official news agency report.

Li said China encourages its enterprises to invest in Uzbekistan and is willing to import more high-quality agricultural products from the latter. China is willing to push the bilateral trade volume to a new level and expand cooperation in fields like infrastructure, inter-connectivity and energy resources, he said.

China is Uzbekistan's largest trade partner and the bilateral trade volume has grown rapidly since the beginning of this year, said Aripov. Both sides signed bilateral cooperation documents in economy and trade, investment, technology and customs.
