MTEX unveiled two direct to textile pigment printers with inline heat fixation, eliminating the need for a two-part print and bake process and also the MTEX Pad for pre and post treatment of digitally printed fabrics at ITMA 2015.

The two new printers showcased for the first time were the MTEX Vision for stretched and woven fabrics with pigment inks and inline heat fixation and the MTEX Blue for woven fabrics with pigment inks and inline heat fixation.

“The MTEX Vision has an adhesive belt allowing stretched fabrics to be printed digitally with precision and colour consistency and the MTEX Blue is a low cost market entry option for woven fabrics only,” it said.

According to a MTEX press release, working closely with Mimaki, their worldwide OEM partner, MTEX's engineers have developed a patented inline heat polymerisation system.

“This system fixes the pigment dyes to the fabric, which traditionally has been a two-part process,” the Portugal based digital textile printer producer informed.

“Pigment printers are popular particularly in the textile and fashion industry as pigment inks can print onto virtually any type of fabric including cottons and linens,” it added in a press release.

“Heat fixation is an essential part of the pigment printing process, that either needs to be brought in-house with additional machinery or outsourced which means spending more money,” the company stated.

“By bringing both processes together, MTEX has answered a problem that has faced the industry for many years in an all-in-one affordable digital pigment printing solution,” it observed.

To complete the offering, which is aimed specifically at the textile industry, both printers will come standard with Inedit NeoStampa Textile printing RIP.

This is a powerful colour engine which can generate ICC RGB profiles that will provide absolute correspondence of colour from screen to the printer.

The MTEX Pad has been developed and can be used either in the pre-treatment coating for fabrics prior to digital printing or for post-treatment coating of fabrics.

With pre-treatment, the fabrics have full impregnation of the coatings, making them ready for digital textile printing.

With the post-treatment process, the coatings are laid only on the surface of the finished print and are dried inline and coatings available include Acrylic, Fire Retardancy (FR), UV protection and anti-scratch.

MTEX CEO Eloi Ferreira said, “The two new all-in-one printers with pigments have been developed in direct response to demand from the industry for semi-industrial pigment printing solutions.”

“The MTEX Pad with abilities to pre and post treat fabrics is an extremely flexible machine which will fit into any textile workflow, however big or small,” he too added. (AR)
