Ethylene prices rise sharply in Asia, fall drastically in US markets

Ethylene prices for CFR Northeast Asia registered gains of nearly US $120 per ton from those ruling at last Wednesday's level and in the process, CFR Northeast Asia shot up from $951-953 per metric ton to $1070-1072 per metric ton and ethylene prices for CFR Southeast also jumped from $971-973 per metric ton to $1065-1067 per metric ton on July 1.
However, ethylene prices in the FD Northwest European markets performed quite the opposite and fell back from €680-685 per metric ton to €620-625 per metric ton yesterday, while ethylene prices for CIF Northwest Europe maintained the growth trend of last Wednesday and jumped from $740-750 per metric ton to $850-860 per metric ton.
On the other hand, prices of ethylene in the US market which have been falling since the last two consecutive weeks, continued to do so on July 8 too, but albeit drastically from US cent 24.750-25.000 per pound to US cent 21.250-21.500 per pound.
