SIMA hails removal of customs duty on crude, petroleum products

He has mentioned that the captive power cost is already three times more than of the grid power cost making the industry to cut production resulting in huge job losses for the workers. He has mentioned that the power shortage has become a major threat for the survival of the industry and as per the load generation balance report of Central Electricity Authority; the deficit is likely to increase in the coming years and continue for few more years.
SIMA Chairman has also stated that the textile industry has been already suffering due to high transportation cost and the textile mills in the States like Tamilnadu has been incurring almost four times of the transportation cost of the competing countries like China and Pakistan for bringing down cotton from the States of Maharashtra and Gujarat and again equal amount for selling the yarn back in the upcountry centres resulting in abnormal increase in cost of production. Therefore, SIMA Chairman has appealed to the Centre to immediately roll back the decision and also pass on the benefit of excise duty reduction to the end customers.
