The Institution of Engineers (India) in association with the 2011 Government SKSJ Technological Institute Alumni is holding the 24th National Convention of Textile Engineers on “Textile & Apparel Industry: Contemporary Issues to Address in Coming Years” on 19th & 20th August 2011. The Annual National Convention of Textile Engineers will deliberate on the latest trends, practices and projections for the future. Till date, twenty three National Conventions of Textile Engineers have been organized in various parts of the country on several vital & contemporary topics.

The Textile Engineering Division Board of the Institution of Engineers (India) Karnataka State Centre is organizing Govt SKSJTI Alumni Association aiming at bringing together its affiliates, to tap the continuing changes in the field of textile & apparel. This gives an opportunity to share their experiences with the institute and suggest the possible changes required in the curriculum in coming years.

The Textile & Apparel industry has faced countless challenges over the years to sustain & survive in India. The frequent change in cost of inputs, ever changing fashions, changes in Government policies, availability of trained manpower, stringent labor laws & its social compliances made the industry leaders & professionals to exchange their views often to keep them abreast of their knowledge to stay focused in the business.

In view of the above, this National Convention of Textile Engineers proposes to bring leading Textile & Apparel Engineers, Technocrats, Scientists, Academicians, Researchers, Manufacturers, Quality Heads, Factory Compliance Professionals, Exporters, Retailers, Machinery & Testing instruments manufacturing professionals on a common platform to discuss the theme of the Convention & to find the solutions.

A special feature of this convention is allowing budding engineers to present their views on this subject. Hope this helps them to understand the industry, which they are going to be a part, of in coming days. The need of the hour of the textile and apparel industry is to address the contemporary issues which affect in the coming years with meticulous discussion and expert advice
