Oddments, although a bit mixed, generally had a good week under the circumstances. Demand was good on both days, which was reflected in most types making gains, or holding onto last week's prices. The average AWEX Merino Cardings Price Guide was up the 3¢, the only Indicator to rise this week.

Buyers for China were dominant followed by buyers for India, Korea and Europe.

Sales will be held in Newcastle, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 48,141 bales are currently rostered for sale. Present estimates for the following two sales (Weeks 22 and 23) are 42,197 and 44,900 bales, respectively; a decrease of 17.9% over the three sale period when compared with last year.

The New Zealand Merino Company is rostered to offer 2,200 bales in Melbourne next week.

In South African sales, the Cape Wools Indicator was down by 2.6% since last week against a 3.5% depreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar and a 1.4% depreciation against the Euro. 10,528 bales were on offer.
