China National Cotton Reserves Corporation (CNCRC) said on November 25 that the pace of acquiring cotton was picking up.
As of November 24, it has acquired 820,090 tons of cotton, of which, 245,970 tons was inland cotton and the rest 574,120 tons was acquired in Xinjiang.
The body cited the latest estimated 2011-12 cotton production at 7.548 million tons, an increase of 21.2 percent from the previous year.
Production in the Yellow River Basin is estimated at 2.431 million tons, up 20.9 percent; output in the Yangtze River valley is estimated at 1.555 million tons, a rise of 19.6 percent and that in the northwest region is estimated 3.552 million tons, an increase of 22.1 percent.
