DOMOTEX: New category for artistic rugs established

From 14 to 17 January the world's largest trade fair – DOMOTEX for carpets and floor coverings will be showcasing the latest design trends for the 2012/2013 season.

Hand-knotted carpets are definitely coming back into vogue, and are a must for any fashion-conscious furnishing scheme. The current renaissance in carpets and rugs is inspiring designers to new heights of creativity.

The most innovative designs will be on display at next year's DOMOTEX, showcased at the Carpet Design Awards, the special presentation Souk Deluxe, which highlights current design trends, and the new display areas for antique carpets.

The Seventh Carpet Design Awards will take place at DOMOTEX HANNOVER from 14 - 17 January 2012. The event will be organized by Deutsche Messe.

At the special display Souk Deluxe the carpet designer elite associated with names such as Jürgen Dahlmanns, Jan Kath, Michaela Schleypen, Rahim Walizada and Arman Vartian demonstrate exactly why hand-made carpets have regained their place in our affections – and in our living rooms.

Up market specialist retailers and interior furnishers can discover all the latest new products at Souk Deluxe. This will give them a comprehensive overview of the market and enable them to put together their own personal sales collection before they leave DOMOTEX.

The Carpet Design Awards are seen as an important international accolade for handmade carpets and rugs. For the upcoming DOMOTEX a completely new category has been established: under the heading “Best design in studio artist rugs” the judges will be looking for rugs designed by artists and textile studios and made in only very limited numbers.

These creations will be distinguished by their sophisticated design, high-quality materials, weaving techniques and colour palette.
