Mermet, a world leader in solar protection fabrics, was recently awarded Cradle to Cradle certification, Silver level, for its PVC-free, 100% recyclable fabrics, Cortina and Siena.

Cradle to Cradle Certified (CM) is a multi-attribute program that assesses products for safety to human & environmental health, design for future use cycles, and sustainable manufacturing processes. The program provides guidelines to help businesses implement the Cradle to Cradle framework, which focuses on using safe materials that can be disassembled and reused as technical nutrients or composted as biological nutrients.

Cradle to Cradle Certified (CM) products are recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building certification program and are eligible to contribute to a variety of LEED credits.

“We are very proud of this achievement, which we believe provides Mermet and our loyal customers a very compelling product offering for architects, designers, and building owners seeking green , sustainable solar shade fabrics.” says Chris Duerk, Director of Sales and Marketing. “In addition, the fenestration properties, color and texture of Cortina and Siena are exceptional and what the market is calling for.”

Cortina and Siena meet or exceed many additional industry certifications and standards. Cortina is available in a 5 % openness factor and Siena is available in a 7 % openness factor. Both fabrics feature eight rich, stylish colors in a 118” fabric width, perfectly suited for residential and commercial applications.
