NITRA offers 4 year B. Tech program in textile technology

Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA), the premier institute engaged in applied R&D, consultancy and training since 1974 has now established its new academic wing, NITRA Technical Campus (NTC) to cater to the manpower requirements of the complete textile and apparel supply chain.

Beginning August 2012 NTC offers 4 year B. Tech program in Textile Technology, 4 year B. Tech program in Computer Science & Engineering and 2 Year PGDM program in Fashion Retail Management (FRM). These programs are approved by AICTE and the B. Tech programs are affiliated to Mahamaya Technical University UP (MTU Code No. – 802).

In the last 2 years NITRA strengthened its laboratories, workshops, library and class rooms by bringing Rs 40 Cr as gants from both central and UP state governments.

The library, in particular, is substantially upgraded and digitized with a view to benefit not only the students but to benefit a large no. of industry professionals who regularly use the resources of NITRA Library either as NITRA member mill representatives or as students of career enhancement DLP programs conducted by NITRA.

The library hours are also extended and the present timing for the library is from 8.30 AM to 8.30 PM on all working days at NITRA. The library is also open on every 2nd and 4th Sundays.

Library

A well-planned rich-collection library works as a nerve-centre of every academic and research organization and plays a vital supportive role in teaching and learning activities. The library, as a “Resource Centre”, also provides the students and researchers an opportunity to remain connected with current global developments.

Text Book Loan Scheme (T.B.L.S.) is available to interested students. Two books are issued at a time to a student for a period of two weeks. The library has free access, Computerized Reference Area, Stack Area and reading area well spread out. The library is also equipped with photocopier machine and digital scanner.

Digital Library

The library has computerized catalogue search services through ERP Library Module. Adequate numbers of PCs are placed in the user area for the students and faculty to access the ERP.

Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) is one of the prime textile research institutes in the country.  The textile industry and Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India jointly established NITRA in 1974 for conducting applied scientific research and providing support services to Indian textile industry.  The organization is situated in a 50 acre land at NCR Ghaziabad, near national capital New Delhi.
