At the recently held 2013 Copenhagen Fur Forum in Beijing, industry representatives from China and Denmark exchanged views on development prospects of the fur industry.

Both the sides agreed to work together for strengthening all-round cooperation, enhancing brands and personnel training in the future.

Speaking at the forum, Kenneth Lohberg, Director Business Development and Marketing at the world-renowned fur auction house Kopenhagen Fur, expressed high hope for the development of China’s fur industry.

He said China’s fur industry experienced rapid development in the past 10 years and added that both opportunities and challenges will exist at the same time in the future.

He predicted that the entire fur industry will continue the upward trend in 2013, due to the impact of purchasing power of Chinese consumers.

In future, the fur industry, especially mink garment sector, will further expand its market size, owing to strong demand of downstream consumer market.

Based on conservative estimate, China’s fur industry is expected to maintain an annual growth rate of 14 percent, Mr. Lohberg said.

The Chinese fur industry is likely to reach 16.8 billion yuan in 2013 and will grow to more than 25.6 billion yuan in 2016, which shows the potential for future development of Chinese fur market, he said.
