Discussions begin for March CPL imports in Chinese markets

Negotiations for caprolactam (CPL) imports gradually began in March, and offers from suppliers for ready-to-be-shipped goods are in the range of US$ 2,630-2,650/ton.

Counter offers from downstream customers are around US$ 2,550/ton, and actual transaction level is over US$ 2,600/ton.

On March 4, the Chinese CPL market in terms of US dollars remained light. The mainstream offers for cargo from Eastern Europe were in the range of US$ 2,530-2,550/ton, bids from downstream factories were in the range of US$ 2,490-2,500/ton, and actual negotiation was in the range of US$ 2,500-2,530/ton. However, actual negotiation was scarce as the market was covered with strong wait-and-watch sentiment.

The CPL market in terms of RMB was also weak on March 4. The mainstream price for spot supply was in the range of 20,000-20,100 yuan/ton, offers from cargo holders were in the range of 20,100-20,400 yuan/ton, while downstream manufacturers inquired for price of around 20,000 yuan/ton. However, trading atmosphere appeared light and actual negotiations for small orders were in the range of 20,000-20,100 yuan/ton.
