The Huntsman and DuPont Textile Alliance was the first to launch the Dual Action (repel and release) system and continues its industry-setting standards with this unique system that combines both oil and water-repellency with stain release properties to bring the best of both effects into one fabric finish.
The new finish has a stain repelling agent that acts as an invisible barrier so liquid spills bead up and roll off the fabric. It also has a release technology that prevents fibers from holding stains and soils so they wash away easily during laundering. Dual action effects are desired by consumers for functional and aesthetic benefits. This new finish delivers both.
Regarding sustainability, the new PHOBOL CP range is based on DuPont Capstone short-chain chemistry which meets the goals of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 2010/15 Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) Stewardship Program.
They are compliant with the EU Directive 2006/122 for Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), relating to restrictions on the marketing and use of PFOS. Additionally, the product range is compliant with OEKO-TEX 100, meets the requirements of various brand/retail Restricted Substance Lists and meets the commitments of the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) joint roadmap.
“These products are additions to our extensive range of short-chain fluorochemicals which help our customers meet the commitments of the ZDHC joint roadmap,” said Steve Gray, Global Vice President, Strategic Marketing and Planning of Huntsman Textile Effects. “The alliance continues to drive the transition and deliver technological advancements that have a lower environmental footprint.”
As global leaders in stain management solutions, the Huntsman and DuPont Textile Alliance continues to focus on world-class science to deliver the newest technologies for fabric protection to customers.
With over 200 years of combined experience in the textile business, the alliance is well placed to provide end to end solutions based on its deep understanding of the compatibility issues within the finishing products, whilst delivering the latest, sustainable technologies that meet the needs of the textiles industry. Fabrics treated with PHOBOL CP can qualify for the Teflon fabric protector hangtag. This dual action finish is the latest addition to the new Teflon fabric protector Shield and Clean portfolio.
