India's man-made fibre output rises 8.9% in June 2013

The production of man-made fibre in India increased by 8.9 percent in June 2013 to 110 million kg, compared to production of 101 million kg during the corresponding month of last year, according to the provisional data released by the Office of the Textiles Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles.
 
During the first quarter of the current financial year, man-made fibre output increased by 2.6 percent year-on-year to 321 million kg, according to the data.
 
However, the production of man-made filament yarn registered a decline of 3.5 percent year-on-year and 7.6 percent year-on-year during June 2013 and April-June 2013 periods, respectively.
 
In June 2013, cotton yarn production increased by 8 percent year-on-year to 311 million kg, while blended and 100% non-cotton yarn production grew by 4.9 percent year-on-year to 107 million kg.
 
From April to June 2013, total spun yarn production, which includes, cotton yarn and blended and 100% non-cotton yarn, jumped by 10.3 percent to 1.259 billion kg.
 
While there was a decrease of over 8 percent in mill fabric production during the three-month period, the overall fabric production rose marginally by 2.2 percent year-on-year to 15.536 billion sq m.
