30 new handicraft lines on display at Guatemalan Fair

The 6th edition of the Central American Crafts, New World Crafts 2013, committed to the Guatemalan and Central American crafts sector, will be the show window of innovation where more than 30 new collections, that emerge of the Central America art designers, seek to conquer the world, after a perfect fusion of global trends and history and culture of Guatemala.

In these fair will be presented products with modern and contemporary designs, inspired by the craftsman traditions of the diverse cultures of our country. All the products are made with total dedication resulting in a wide selection of high quality crafts that fit the needs of the international market, said Aida Fernandez, Manager of Manufacturing Division of AGEXPORT.

Buying companies like West Elm, Philadelphia museum, Metropolitan museum in New York, Musical Instrumental de Phoenix, among others, will be part of more than 100 buyers from USA and Europe. All ready to make business with more than 100 exhibitors from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras y Nicaragua who will present new lines crafts such as, handicrafts, wood, ceramics, jewelry, recycled products, and more.

Another innovation that will have these editions 2013 of the New World Crafts is the opening of the new area “Crafts & Design”, which also seek to promote Guatemalan urban and emergent design, through the presentation of innovate crafts products, so this will be the platform that allows them to start the promotion to international markets and compete with world-class designs.

One of the proposals made this year by the Organizing Committee of the NWC, has been to be the meeting place for Central American craftsmen to a large exchanges of views, knowledge and values among people united by the handcrafts sector. This year we expect exceed 1,000 visits that the last edition had, we want to encourage the marketing of handicraft production, to highlight the work done by many designers and promote local products in the country, said Lucrecia Gonzalez, President of the Organizing Committee of NWC.

During the two days of the New World Crafts Fair, will be held 6 conferences focused on techniques to product textile crafts used in Guatemala, finding new markets, how to stars a successful internet business, successful communities in social networks, among others, which will be given by professionals in the field as Ms. Rosario Polanco, Mr. Alan Daniels, Mr. Luis Carlos Chaquea, and more.

In the last edition of 2012, the business closure of the fair was $800 thousand, and was attended by the South American special guest of Bolivia. The fair was visited by more than 100 specialized buyers from the United States, Mexico, South America, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Australia and Africa generating significant business and strategic alliances between participants and local and international buyers.
