Spanish textile industry production rises 1.1% in Dec'13

The production of textile industry in Spain registered an increase of 1.1 percent year-on-year, for the month of December, 2013, as per the latest Industrial Production Index (IPI) data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
 
According to the INE data, the IPI registered in the textile sector during the month of December 2013 is an increase compared to the 0.8 percent year-on-year rise recorded in the IPI of the sector in the month of November 2013.
 
Meanwhile, the IPI in the manufacturing of garments sector registered a surge of 4.6 percent in December, 2013, compared to the same period in 2012.
 
The IPI of the overall Spanish industry registered a surge of 1.7 percent in December 2013, as compared with the same month of the previous year. The IPI registered in December is seven tenths below the IPI registered in November 2013. 
 
The IPI measures the monthly progress and productivity of industries, including extractive industries and the manufacturing sector. This indicator reflects only the quantity and quality of production, eliminating the influence of prices. This methodology is fully harmonized with the European Union countries.
