The Turkish city of Bursa is all geared up to host the sixth edition of the International Textile and Apparel Sector Research and Development (R & D) Project Market Summit, scheduled to be held from April 3 to 4, 2014, at the Bursa Merinos Ataturk Congress Culture Center.

Organized by the Uludag Textile Exporters Association (UTIB), with support from the Turkish Ministry of Economy, Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), and in coordination with the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), Bursa Ekisehir Roadmaps Development Agency (BEBKA), Bursa Textile and Apparel R&D Center (BUTEKOM), the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and the Technology and Innovation Funding Programs Directorate (TEYDEB), the two-day summit is a platform for domestic and international textile and clothing enterprises to showcase their latest innovations and research projects.

According to a statement issued by UTIB, this year, 346 participants, of which 264 are domestic and 82 from international textile and clothing firms, would be presenting their latest innovations and research projects during the summit.

Participants would be presenting their projects under various segments such as ‘Construction Textiles’, ‘Home Textiles’, ‘Automobile Textiles’, ‘Protective and Military Textiles’, ‘Medical and Technical Textiles and Garments’, as well as ‘Textiles Finishing, Dyeing, Printing and Coating’.

Renowned London-based Turkish fashion designer Bora Aksu would be opening the show with his latest spring-summer 2014 collection. The event would also feature a special conference where European Textile and Apparel Organization (EURATEX) secretary general Lutz Walter would be speaking.

The two-day summit would also have spaces dedicated for various textile and clothing industry experts to discuss and exchange information regarding the latest trends and innovations in the global textile and apparel sector.
