Germany is largest importer of Spanish yarn in Jan'14

Germany is the largest market for Spanish yarn, according to a report by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

In January 2014, Spanish yarn exports to Germany were valued at €6.64 million, showing an increase of 8.8 percent over the same period of 2013, states Noticiero Textil quoting the Ministry’s report.

Italy was the second largest market for Spanish yarn during the month with imports of €5.68 million, up 2 percent year-on-year, followed by France with imports of €4.13 million, up 2.2 percent year-on-year.

In Spanish yarn export rankings, the fourth and fifth positions were occupied by Portugal and the United States, which imported yarn worth €3.72 million and €2.79 million, respectively, showing a decline of 2.2 percent and 5.4 percent year-on-year.

In Latin America, the main customer of Spanish yarn was Mexico, which imported €1.15 million worth of yarn in January 2014, registering a jump of 21.3 percent year-on-year.

Spain supplied €53,000 worth of yarn to Ecuador during the month under review, showing a decline of 60.7 percent year-on-year.

Textile and clothing exports from Spain amounted to €976.4 million in January 2014, registering a rise of 8.3 percent, compared to the same month last year, as per the Ministry’s data.

In 2013, Spain exported textile and clothing worth €12 billion, indicating a rise of 12.4 percent year-on-year.
