Proposte 2014 had 6593 visitors, made up of 2364 Italians and 4229 foreigners. This means the foreign presence was up, accounting for a total of 64.15%. Last year it was 62.55%: Proposte, therefore, is an increasingly international show!

Total visitor numbers are up 7.19% compared to 2013.The show recorded a 2.65% increase in Italian visitors, while foreign visitor numbers were up by 9.9%.The leading countries in terms of visitor nationality, in addition to Italy of course, were Germany with 597 attendees, Great Britain with 543 and the US with 396.

Various exhibitors confirmed that, from the morning of the very first day, they found themselves removing collections from their racks as numerous buyers wanted exclusive rights to the pieces. And there was a steady flow of orders coming in over the next two days.

Could this mean the recession is over? Probably not, but the quality of the contracts signed with buyers from no less than 70 countries around the globe indicates that there is indeed hope in a better future, backed by these figures.

Proposte's organizers couldn't be more pleased with how the work went, with the success of the sculptural installation by Giulio Ciampi in the Central Hall and with the Rhapsódija Trio's brilliant concert on the evening of the 8th of May at Villa Erba.

Press conference on the 8th of May
At the packed press conference, attended by Roberto Luongo, ITA Italian Trade Agency's managing director, chairman Piercarlo Viganò and vice chairman Mauro Cavelli , a number of changes were announced that the exhibitors will evaluate jointly to ensure the show continues to be a successful event on the industry's calendar.

Eger is stepping down after years of diligent and valuable service, during which time he has worked untiringly for the success of the show. And the Board thanks him for all his much appreciated effort.

Gustavo De Negri comes from a family that has been working in silk fabrics for five generations, inspired by the products that the Bourbon kings created for the palace of Caserta and their other dwellings.Their current collections give a modern take on the ancient Italian tradition. An exhibitor at Proposte since 2007 with Gustavo De Negri & Za.Ma. - of which he is both a partner and CEO - De Negri is chairmen of the regional SME association PMI Campania and a member of Italy's national SME council.
