Enterprise Mauritius organizes Fashion Fiesta in UK

Enterprise Mauritius, the apex Trade Promotion Organisation of Mauritius, last month organized the first-edition of Mauritian Fashion Fiesta to put the country’s textile and apparel manufacturers on top of the mind of UK buyers.

The special promotional event was in line with an initiative spearheaded by Enterprise Mauritius to consolidate its presence in the UK market. The event gave Mauritian exhibitors an opportunity to showcase their savoir-faire in textile, apparel and footwear sectors. It also provided a platform for young Mauritian designers to present their collections.

The Mauritian delegation comprised 34 participants, out of which 25 were from the textile and apparel sector. The 2-day event was visited by representatives of major buyers from UK and Europe including Oxford Shirt Company, Austin Reed, Mother Care, Jojo Manon Bebe, White Stuff, Arcadia Group, Horse shoe Jeans, Evans, Karen Millen, JD Williams, Joules, French Connection, Monsoon, Boden, Long Tall Sally, JD export, Zandra Shoes, Sik Sik, Ink, Shop Direct, Tango Clothing, among others.

To give Mauritian Fashion Fiesta an outstanding dimension, a Mauritian Fashion Show was organized for the first time in UK, which presented products from Mauritian manufacturing companies. The fashion show was further enhanced by the presence of several beauty queens representing different regions in England namely Miss England 2013, Miss Birmingham, Miss Sussex and Miss Chesterfield.

During the two days, roughly 240 B2B meetings were organized with UK and European buyers and orders amounting to Mauritian Rs 32.8 million are already under negotiation, Enterprise Mauritius said in its latest newsletter.

After the success of the UK event, Enterprise Mauritius is now preparing to organize a bigger show in Cape Town, South Africa, which will be held on the 19 and 20 June at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
