Santosh Gangwar is new Indian Textiles Minister

Santosh Kumar Gangwar, who represents Bareilly city in the 16th Lok Sabha, has been appointed as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Textiles in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet.
 
Mr. Gangwar, 65, has been a member of the Lok Sabha (the Lower House of the Indian Parliament) from 1989 till 2009, when he lost by a narrow margin. He was elected from Bareilly to the 16th Lok Sabha by a margin of more than 240,000 votes.
 
He had earlier served as Minister of State for Science and Technology with additional charge of Parliamentary Affairs, during Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee’s first Cabinet during October-November 1999. Subsequently, he held the portfolio of Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas with additional charge of Parliamentary Affairs in the 13th Lok Sabha.
 
In addition to heading the Ministry of Textiles, Mr. Gangwar would also be Minister of State of Parliamentary Affairs, Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation in the new Indian Government that was sworn-in on May 26, 2014.
