Southeast Asian ACN price higher in May'14 over last year

The price of acrylonitrile (ACN) in May 2014 was higher in Southeast Asian market, compared to the same month last year. The average price of ACN in May 2014 was $1870/ton, which was 8.89 percent higher than the average price of $1715/ton in May 2013.

The average price of ACN in S E Asia, however, remained stable at $1870/ton in May 2014 compared to the previous month. On June 5, 2014, prices were assessed at $1875/ton.

In F E Asia, the average price of ACN went up marginally in the last fortnight ending May 31, 2014 to $1885/ton, due to strong buying activity in the region, compared to the average price of $1880/ton in the previous fortnight ending May 15, 2014. On June 5, prices were assessed at $1900/ton.

In the Chinese domestic market, selling offers for ACN increased in the first half of the last fortnight and were offered in the range of RMB 14,450/ton to RMB 14,500/ton. The uptrend continued in the second half and selling offers were in the range of RMB 14,950/ton to RMB 15,000/ton by the end of the second half of the last fortnight.

In Europe, average ACN price in the last fortnight remained unchanged from the previous fortnight at $1760/ton.

In US, the average price of ACN went up by 3.93 percent in the last fortnight to $1850/ton due to improved downstream demand in the region, as against the previous fortnight’s average price of $1780/ton.
