Trade ties to further improve in India says Mr Kozlowski

India and Poland enjoys relation spanning over 50 years with Poland being India's second largest trading partner among the Central Asia and East European countries.

Poland has also made a notable contribution in the Economic development of India building, Coal mines, Power plants, Defence equipment and supplying ships and we are sure that it continue to do so in the future said H.E. Mr. Jan Kozlowski, Chief Minister of the Pomerania Region, Poland while addressing the members at a meeting organized during His Excellency's visit by the Indo Polish Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IPCCI) and the All India Association of Industries (AIAI).

Mr. Kozlowski further said the new Prime Minister will be from our own district and that the trade relations between India and Poland are half-century old and both countries are endeavouring to further strengthen them.

Due to change in world's political and economic affairs, some effects are already seen in the Indo-Polish trade during recent years, which is growing.

Mr. Kozlowski said that Poland joined the European Union in 2004 and is presenting itself as an attractive investment destination based on its economic growth and reforms, divestment programme and position as a supply base to the East Europe. Overall bilateral trade during 2006 totaled US$ 671.03 million, showing an increase of 18.09%.

meen Mr. Vijay Kalantri, President-Indo Polish Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IPCCI) and President-All India Association of Industries (AIAI), said that bilateral relations between India and Poland have grown substantially. He further said that Poland and India have signed a co-operation agreement aimed at boosting trade and investment between the two countries.
