Shri. Rakesh Vaid has assumed as Chairman of Apparel Export Promotion Council for the years 2008 and 2009. He visited Tirupur to interact with Exporters with a main objective of building up Knitwear Sector and promote Knitwear Trade to new heights. Knitwear Exports constitute nearly 40% of total Readymade Garment Exports of all fibres from India.
In this connection, an Exporters' Meet was organized in Tirupur Exporters Association on 19th Janaury, 2008. More than 100 exporters participated in this meet.
Shri A. Sakthivel, Past Chairman of Apparel Export Promotion Council and President of Tirupur Exporters Association welcomed the gathering and introduced newly elected Chairman of AEPC to the exporters.
Mr.Rakesh Vaid, Chairman, AEPC while delivering his address he mentioned about the projects envisaged by AEPC to uplift the Garment Trade both in International as well as in domestic markets.
The projects envisaged are: 1. To establish Knitwear Technology Mission, which will involve in developing latest fabrics, latest technology in manufacturing, latest designing to increase the value chain in the light of Rupee appreciation and we have to live with it.
It is a pride of Tirupur Exporters that AEPC is going to set up this mission with Head Quarters at Tirupur and it will be headed by Shri.A.Sakthivel, past Chairman of AEPC who has been instrumental for Tirupur becoming a Knitwear supply hub in the global map.
2. The present AEPC will be renamed as APPAREL TRADE PROMOTION COUNCIL to promote trade both in international and domestic markets, as the entire World Trade is going to be single market in the Quota free regime.
