China's flax cloth production reached around 21.13 million meters in December 2007, saw an increase of 3.32 percent over the previous month, but a sharp fall was observed from the same period last year.
Output in the month of December represented a rise by 56.38 percent against the corresponding period previous year, according to the latest data released by National Bureau of Statistics.
Of the total production, ramie cloth reached the mark of around 9.62 million meters, 3.70 percent higher than November; linen production in this period was 11.5023 million meters, boosting up to 3 percent from the previous month.
In the year 2007, China produced 103 million meters of ramie cloth, representing a growth of 7.62 percent compared with the previous year; linen cloth, on the other hand touched 120 million meters, rendering a rise of 12.03 percent from 2006.
