Assuming more favorable weather conditions than last year, MY 2008/09 cotton yields are forecast to average 680 kilos per hectare.
Production: MY 2008/09 cotton output is forecast at 12 million (375 lb) bales, equivalent to 2.04 MMT. As with last year's crop, the double threat of mealy bugs and cotton leaf curl virus (CLCV) will continue to take a major toll on production.
